While Western leaders pat themselves on the back for their 'generous' donations, they are simultaneously hoarding enough booster shots to vaccinate their populations ten times over. How dare they call this a 'global lifeline' when Africa, with over a billion people, has received a fraction of the doses that a single Western country like the UK has wasted on its third or fourth boosters? COVAX was supposed to be the great equalizer, but it has become a revolving door for Western pharmaceutical giants to dump their surplus—often with short expiry dates or storage requirements that African nations cannot meet. This is not incompetence; this is deliberate sabotage dressed up as aid. When a rich country orders ten times more doses than it needs, and then 'donates' the leftovers months later, that is not a lifeline; it is a death sentence with a bow on top. The West is not failing to help—it is actively choosing to profit from the pandemic while the Global South burns. And let us not forget the intellectual property theft masquerading as 'innovation.'
